1. What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files that a website places on your device (computer, tablet, or smartphone) when you visit. They allow the site to recognise your device on future visits, remember your preferences, and understand how you interact with the site.
Similar technologies include web storage (localStorage and sessionStorage), which we use to save preferences like your chosen colour theme, and session tokens, which keep you logged in. This policy covers all such technologies collectively as "cookies".
2. Why We Use Cookies
We use cookies and similar technologies for the following purposes:
- To keep you logged in and maintain the security of your session
- To remember your preferences (e.g. dark/light theme) across visits
- To understand how visitors navigate our site so we can improve it
- To prevent cross-site request forgery (CSRF) attacks
We do not use cookies to serve targeted advertising, build advertising profiles, or share data with ad networks.
3. Essential Cookies Always active
Essential cookies are strictly necessary for the platform to function. They cannot be disabled without breaking core functionality. No consent is required to set them.
| Name / Key | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
sb-auth-token | Maintains your authenticated session | Session / up to 7 days |
csrf_token | Protects against cross-site request forgery | Session |
karyastra_cookie_consent | Stores your cookie consent choices (localStorage) | 1 year |
4. Functional Cookies Optional
Functional cookies remember your preferences to personalise your experience. Disabling them means preferences are not saved between sessions.
| Name / Key | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
theme (localStorage) | Remembers your dark or light mode choice | Persistent (until cleared) |
exitShown (sessionStorage) | Prevents the exit-intent prompt from showing more than once per session | Session |
5. Performance & Analytics Cookies Optional
Analytics cookies help us understand how visitors use our site — which pages are popular, where users navigate from, and where they encounter issues. This data is used only to improve the platform and marketing site.
Analytics cookies are only loaded if (a) the platform administrator has configured a Google Analytics ID, and (b) you have given consent via the cookie consent banner.
| Provider | Cookie(s) | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| Google Analytics 4 | _ga, _ga_* | Distinguish users and sessions; measure site traffic | Up to 2 years |
| Google Analytics 4 | _gid | Distinguish users (24-hour rolling window) | 24 hours |
Google Analytics data is processed in accordance with Google's Privacy Policy. We have enabled IP anonymisation so no full IP addresses are stored.
6. Marketing Cookies Not currently used
We do not currently deploy any marketing or advertising cookies. We do not use retargeting pixels, ad-network trackers, or social-media tracking cookies.
If this changes in the future, we will update this policy and request fresh consent before setting any marketing cookies.
7. Third-Party Cookies
Beyond Google Analytics (described above), the following third-party scripts may set cookies when loaded:
| Service | Purpose | When Loaded |
|---|---|---|
| Google Fonts | Font delivery (no cookies set; uses preconnect only) | Every page |
| Web3Forms | Contact form submission; may set a session cookie | Contact page only, on submission |
| EmailJS | Email delivery for form submissions | Contact page only, on submission |
| Calendly (optional) | Demo-booking embed; sets Calendly session cookies | Only if a Calendly URL is configured |
Third-party cookies are governed by the privacy policies of the respective providers. We are not responsible for those providers' data practices.
8. Cookie Duration
Cookies fall into two duration categories:
- Session cookies — stored only while your browser is open. They are automatically deleted when you close the browser.
- Persistent cookies — stored for a defined period (see tables above) or until you delete them manually. They remain between browsing sessions.
You can view and delete cookies stored by {{brand.name}} at any time using your browser's developer tools or settings panel (see Section 10).
9. Managing Your Cookie Preferences
When you first visit {{brand.name}}, a cookie consent banner appears with three options:
- Accept All — enables all cookie categories
- Reject Non-Essential — only essential cookies are set; all optional categories are disabled
- Customize — opens a preference panel where you can toggle individual categories
Your choice is saved in localStorage under the key karyastra_cookie_consent and respected on all subsequent visits.
Update your cookie preferences
Change your choices at any time by clicking the button below. Your preference will be reset and the consent banner will reappear.
10. How to Enable, Disable, or Delete Cookies
You can control cookies directly in your browser. Instructions for common browsers:
- Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies and other site data
- Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data
- Safari: Preferences → Privacy → Manage Website Data
- Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions → Manage and delete cookies and site data
You can also use browser extensions such as uBlock Origin or the Privacy Badger extension to block specific third-party cookies.
To opt out of Google Analytics tracking across sites, install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
11. Impact of Disabling Cookies
Disabling different categories of cookies has the following effects:
| Category | Impact if disabled |
|---|---|
| Essential | You will not be able to log in or use the platform. The site may not function at all. |
| Functional | Your theme preference (dark/light) and other UI settings will reset on every visit. |
| Analytics | We will not receive usage data from your session. No impact on your ability to use the site. |
| Marketing | No impact (currently not used). |
12. Updates to This Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy when we change the technologies we use, add new features, or to reflect changes in applicable law. When we make material changes, we will:
- Update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page
- Reset cookie consent where required, so you can review and re-confirm your preferences
We encourage you to check this page periodically.
